We Aren’t Assisting Afrikaners Because They ‘Skipped Ahead’

During a broadcast of CNN’s “AC360” on Wednesday, Bishop Sean Lowe’s Episcopal Church spoke in defense of its immigration agency, which has made the decision not to resettle new immigrants from South Africa. Lowe stated, “This decision centers on those who truly jumped the line.”

He elaborated, “We have thousands of individuals who have fled war and violence, people who have perished, and others across the globe who have assisted our military by helping those in camps every day, while white Africans are expedited. This situation highlights a real need. This decision, again, seems to favor those who have not waited their turn. The entire US refugee resettlement program is currently overwhelmed and has seen minimal attention for refugees since January; it seems only white Africans are being prioritized.”

“There are individuals waiting to board planes—those who have aided our country, translators for our military, true patriots—who remain in camps, while white Africans are bypassing the established process. We are unable to act on this as a matter of ethics.”
