Meta postpones launch of major ‘Behemoth’ AI model due to engineering challenges.

Meta, the company led by Mark Zuckerberg, has decided to postpone the launch of its ambitious AI model, “Behemoth,” due to concerns regarding its abilities. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, sources familiar with the situation indicated this on Thursday.

Engineers at the company have faced difficulties in making substantial advancements with this large language model, leading to questions among staff about whether the updates from earlier versions justify releasing it at this time.

Initially, Behemoth was set to debut in April, aligning with Meta’s inaugural AI conference for developers. However, plans were later adjusted to target a June release. Now, it appears those timelines are either missed or further delayed.

Meta has not yet responded to requests for comments from news outlets.

In April, there was a preview for Behemoth alongside the new Llama 4 AI models, Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick, which were also released that month.
