President Donald Trump is considering legal action against ABC News over allegations that he received a $400 million Boeing 747 “gift” from Qatar during his recent Middle East trip. This claim has gone viral, becoming a source of amusement for late-night comedians.
On Truth Social, Trump expressed his frustration late Saturday, admonishing Disney CEO Bob Iger. He questioned why Iger isn’t addressing what he termed “ABC Fake News,” especially since Iger allegedly earned $16 million based on a report related to inaccurate claims from George Stephanopoulos.
Trump’s post references a legal win against ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos, which seems to bolster his confidence. He adamantly stated, “Everyone, including lawyers, should not claim that ABC has given me a free Boeing 747 plane. This esteemed nation is donating aircraft to the U.S. Air Force and medical professionals, but not to me.”
The uproar originates from Trump’s well-covered visits to Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, where he praised the warm reception he received and highlighted investments exceeding $1.4 trillion in the U.S. economy. The rumored Boeing jet has become material for comedic commentary in liberal media, with figures like Bill Maher referencing it as “Allah Force One” and Stephen Colbert referring to his trip as a “Mideast Fan Strining Tour.”
Trump characterized the alleged offer as a “great gesture” for the U.S. military rather than a personal gift. He remarked, “I would never turn down such an offer. But I thought it was a great gesture.”
As of now, ABC News has not responded to the situation.
