Patel and Bongino reject Epstein conspiracy theories: ‘He took his own life’

Patel, Bongino dismiss Epstein conspiracy theories: 'He killed himself'

Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender and disgraced financier, died by suicide in a New York prison in 2019, as reaffirmed by FBI director Kash Patel and deputy director Dan Bongino on Sunday. This statement aimed to counter the conspiracy theories that have emerged since Epstein died while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

“Having worked as both a public defense counsel and a prosecutor in that prison system, I can recognize suicide when I see it,” Bongino stated during a joint interview.

They provided straightforward responses regarding the well-known circumstances surrounding Epstein’s case. The phrase “Epstein didn’t kill himself” transformed into a meme following his death, and speculation from Congressional Republicans has persisted for years.

Some members of the Trump administration committed to shedding more light on Epstein’s situation and death, especially if Trump returns to the White House. Concerns about sex trafficking involving others have been raised repeatedly.

In January, President Trump directed a review of classified records related to Epstein’s investigation, emphasizing public interest. A bipartisan congressional panel is also assigned to look into these documents.

Attorney General Pam Bondy committed to releasing “Epstein Files,” which would include flight logs and potential “client lists.” However, a highly anticipated release of some records in March did not meet expectations.

Epstein, who owned a private island, a private jet, and several mansions, frequently mingled with affluent individuals, even after his 2008 guilty plea for solicitation. A notable photograph features him alongside Trump, former President Clinton, and Prince Andrew, among others.

His former girlfriend, Gislaine Maxwell, is accused of being a co-conspirator in a sex trafficking operation. She was convicted in 2021 on multiple charges, including sex trafficking and conspiracy, and is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
