Man attacked by coyote fights back by strangling it for 10 minutes

A man from North Carolina shared a frightening experience when a coyote attacked him outside his home in Roxboro late Friday. James Puliam mentioned that he noticed some smoke and suddenly felt as if something was watching him.

“It felt like he was hunting me or something,” Puliam remarked.

Shortly after, a coyote emerged from the woods and charged at him.

“He jumped on me, and I caught him in mid-air. He was biting me and just kept coming as I tried to throw him off,” he explained.

Puliam struggled to fend off the coyote, feeling like he was in a life-or-death scenario. In his panic, he continued to grasp and squeeze the animal that had latched onto his throat.

“I had to rip my left hand from his mouth. Once I did, I suffocated him the whole time until the police arrived,” he recounted.

He held the coyote tightly for about ten minutes to ensure it was dead.

After the ordeal, Puliam received treatment at a local hospital for a bite wound on his left hand. He was also given a rabies shot, saying, “It’s worse than the attack.”

The coyote’s carcass is being examined for potential illness by local animal services.
