A man from Virginia, who received a pardon from the Trump administration after being involved in the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, has now been charged with robbery.
According to reports, Henrico County Police received a call about a break-in on May 9. When an officer arrived, the homeowner recounted that around 8:30 PM, an unknown individual had entered through the back door at a residence on Arthur Wood.
On Tuesday, Henrico County police released a statement indicating that the suspect was allegedly asked to take photographs of certain items before being seen by inhabitants of the house and subsequently leaving.
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Zachary Jordan Arum from Centerville, Virginia, was apprehended in a neighborhood close to the crime scene.
Henrico County police reported that Arum faces charges of destruction, breaking and entering, and vandalism. The statement did not detail a court date.
Following the January events, President Trump issued pardons for many defendants connected to the Capitol riot.
“What they did to these people is outrageous,” he expressed at that time.
Arum had previously been convicted for damaging the speaker’s lobby door with a black helmet and was sentenced to eight years in November of the previous year.
“I truly believed I was doing the right thing,” Arum stated during his court appearance, referring to his actions after Trump’s “stop the steal” rally.
Prosecutors had claimed that Arum additionally assisted other rioters in overcoming barriers. While in the Capitol, he allegedly threw a red velvet rope from a law enforcement balcony and attempted to kick a door on the fourth floor.
