Trump Announces “Golden Dome” Defense Shield

President Donald Trump, alongside Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses, revealed on Tuesday that the administration will move forward with the construction of the “Golden Dome” Defense Shield, a promise made during the campaign.

This announcement came during a press conference held in the Oval Office.

“Today, we’re excited to share that we’ve chosen the design for this state-of-the-art system, which will utilize next-generation technology across land, sea, and space, featuring space-based sensors and interceptors,” Trump stated.

He also mentioned, “We will discuss this with them, and they also want protection. We’ll continue our support for Canada to the best of our abilities.”

Trump insists that the Golden Dome “needs to function flawlessly before he exits office.”

“Once fully operational, the Golden Dome will have the capability to intercept missiles, regardless of whether they’re launched from the opposite side of the globe or from outer space,” he elaborated.

Trump emphasized that the Golden Dome would safeguard the homeland against advanced cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and hypersonic missiles, likening this initiative to President Ronald Reagan’s strategic defense strategy.

“One Big Beautiful Bill” is the title Trump gave his pledge of $25 billion for the project, urging legislators to pass it. He estimates the total cost could reach around $175 billion.

Hegses described the Golden Dome as a “game changer” and referred to it as a “generational investment in American safety.”

He also commended the vision behind the Space Force, a military branch established by Trump during his first term. “It’s not lost on me that there was a vision to establish the Space Force when others questioned its necessity. Here we stand with leaders from General Gutrain’s Space Force, pioneering the way for America with this transformative golden dome,” he remarked.
