Trump’s Remarks on South Africa’s Farmers
CNN International Correspondent Larry Madwo reported during “News Central” on Wednesday that President Donald Trump has echoed concerns regarding “South African white supremacists.”
Madwo noted that, as South Africa’s Agriculture Minister indicated, there are safety challenges impacting both black and white farmers, with white farmers expressing discontent about their security. He remarked, “If 1,000 white farmers were to die in South Africa, it would be nearly impossible to keep that a secret.”
He commented on President Ramaphosa’s approach, describing him as diplomatic but unable to anticipate the media scrutiny he faced. Madwo pointed out Ramaphosa’s past as an effective negotiator for Nelson Mandela, yet suggested he was caught off guard in that moment.
“These are the matters President Trump has consistently raised with his delegation, including those from South Africa who have seen success,” Madwo concluded.
