New York: Kid Cudi Testifies in Diddy’s Trial
Rapper Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudy took the stand on Thursday as a witness for the prosecution in the sex trafficking trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Mescudy, 41, disclosed details to a panel of 12 jurors and six alternates in federal court in Manhattan, recalling a past incident where Combs allegedly compelled him to attend a drug-fueled sex party referred to as a “freak-off” during their 11-year association.
Combs, 55, denies any involvement in conspiracy related to prostitution or sex trafficking. His legal team admits he has a troubled past involving substance issues and domestic violence, although the women involved in the “freak-offs” reportedly consented.
During her testimony on May 14, Ventura, also known as Cathy, recounted an incident where she confronted Combs after catching him observing Mescudi in 2011, leading her to kick him in the back. She further threatened to release a tape and indicated she would have someone harm both Mescudi, recognized for hits like “Day ‘n’ Nite” and “Memories.”
A judge viewed a photo of a bruise on Ventura, captured by her mother shortly after the altercation.
Ventura, 38, stated that her relationship with Mescudi ended soon after the incident, only to reconcile later with Combs. She claims he warned her that Mescudi’s car was going to explode later on.
In a civil lawsuit filed by Ventura in November 2023, she accused Combs of detonating Mescudi’s car. Combs has refuted these allegations and settled the lawsuit for $20 million shortly after it was initiated.
Known for his extensive career as Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, Combs established Bad Boy Records, propelling artists like Notorious B.I.G. and Mase to fame. He became a key figure in American hip-hop culture during the 1990s and early 2000s, ultimately achieving billionaire status.
Combs has been held at Brooklyn’s Federal Lockup since his arrest in September 2024.
