Jon Stewart: Trump will ‘destroy’ the country for ‘financial gain’

John Stewart recently expressed concerns about President Trump’s ongoing legal battles with media companies, suggesting that these conflicts could cause significant harm to the country, all in exchange for “insurance.”

He pointed to Trump’s lawsuit demanding $15 million from ABC and the $40 million contract for a documentary featuring First Lady Melania as evidence of this type of financial protection.

“Are they just feeding the pot so that by the end, Trump will take down our country for insurance money?” Stewart remarked during his appearance on the Bill Simmons Podcast on Friday.

Stewart noted that such large settlements set a troubling precedent for future legal disputes involving Trump’s administration.

“Now [Trump is] in a position where, regardless of what Harvard or Comcast or any of them do, this approach typically leads to more conquests,” Stewart added.

During his time in office, Trump has clashed with Harvard, arguing that the campus culture fosters anti-Semitic sentiments among students.

He has advocated for stripping one of the nation’s oldest institutions of its tax-exempt status and has suggested that its capacity to accept international students be revoked.

“Harvard will have to change how it operates,” Trump stated to reporters in the Oval Office on Friday.

As the president pushes for a national education reform, Stewart inferred that Democrats should start preparing for the 2028 presidential election.

He urged the party to work on improving their image in the upcoming election cycle to regain voter support after their significant defeat last November.
