Cairo:

Health authorities reported that at least 23 Palestinians were killed during the recent Gaza Strike on Sunday, which included local journalists and high-ranking rescue officials.

The latest fatalities in the ongoing Israeli campaign resulted from distinct strikes in Khan Yunis in the south, Jabaria in the north, and Nusirat in the Gaza Strip, according to Medix.

In Jabaria, local journalist Hassan Majidi Abu Walda, along with several families, perished in an airstrike that hit his home.

Another strike in Nuseirat claimed the lives of Ashraf Abu Nar, a senior figure in the region’s civil emergency services, and his wife.

There were no immediate comments from the Israeli military regarding these incidents.

The media office of the Hamas-run Gaza government indicated that the death of Abu Walda has raised the total number of Palestinian journalists killed in Gaza to 220 since October 7, 2023.

The armed wings of Hamas and Islamic Jihad stated on Sunday that their fighters have utilized bombs and tank rockets against Israeli forces in various parts of Gaza, conducting multiple ambushes and attacks.

On Friday, Israeli forces reported that they had engaged overnight in Gaza, targeting 75 locations, including weapons storage facilities and rocket launchers.

Israel initiated both air and ground operations in Gaza following a cross-border assault by Hamas extremists on October 7, 2023.

The Gaza Health Authority noted that the conflict has claimed over 53,900 Palestinian lives and caused extensive destruction along the coastal regions. Furthermore, the aid group reported widespread signs of severe malnutrition.
