Trump Criticizes Rand Paul Over Spending Bill

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump sharply criticized Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky on Tuesday. Paul had informed Breitbart News that he intends to support a two-year pay raise and a debt limit increase tied to what he referred to as “One Big Beautiful Bill,” appreciating certain features of the legislation.

Trump responded by highlighting Paul’s lack of understanding of the bill’s potential for growth.

“Rand Paul barely understands the BBB, especially its incredible growth potential. He constantly votes ‘no’ on everything, thinking it’s good for politics, but it’s not,” Trump stated in a follow-up post.

He continued, emphasizing that Paul’s proposals lack practicality and are, frankly, unrealistic. “People in Kentucky aren’t fond of him. This is a significant growth bill!” he asserted.

Trump’s comments were directed at Paul during an interview with Breitbart News Washington Director Matthew Boyle, contrasting the bill’s perceived benefits with its criticisms.

In response, Paul highlighted his support for tax cuts, noting, “I voted for them back in 2017 and made efforts to make certain tax cuts permanent. I have pushed for practical initiatives, like eliminating taxes on tips, which passed the Senate unanimously.” He expressed his commitment to promoting spending cuts but maintained that he will vote for tax reductions even if he disagrees with every aspect of a bill.

Paul voiced concerns about raising the debt limit by $5 trillion, suggesting an alternative approach. He reiterated the necessity for spending cuts before agreeing to any debt cap increase, arguing that leadership doesn’t trust their ability to implement meaningful spending reductions.

Shortly after Trump posted his comments, Paul took to Twitter to mention that at least four other Republican senators shared his viewpoint on the matter.
