Law enforcement is asking the public for assistance in locating illegal immigrants linked to serious hit-and-run incidents that occurred last month in Nashville.
Authorities are currently trying to find Tony Lopez Infante, a 32-year-old from Venezuela. He is wanted in connection with a crash on May 18 that left a 21-year-old pedestrian, Zach Carach from Florida, with serious injuries.
An official from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Lopez Infante entered the U.S. in August 2023 and is currently present in the country illegally, with a final removal order pending against him.
A troubling video reportedly shows the moments leading up to the crash, during which Carach was celebrating his 21st birthday. He was struck by Lopez Infante’s vehicle, which then fled the scene. Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee stated that he has seen this video, and he has called for justice for Carach.
Police reported that the vehicle, which had sustained front-end damage, was located the day after the incident at a rental facility in Mount Juliet. On May 20, it was confirmed that Lopez Infante was the driver involved in the hit-and-run.
Authorities also noted that, in addition to the hit-and-run charges, Lopez Infante has an outstanding probation warrant linked to a theft case in Williamson County.
Sheena Carach, Zach’s mother, expressed her anguish over her son’s condition, stating that he has been in the hospital since the incident and is currently wheelchair-bound for two months. She is eager for answers regarding how Lopez Infante managed to enter the country and evade law enforcement.
Anyone with information about Lopez Infante’s whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
