DOGE subcommittee uncovers how Biden's autopen might have directed funds to progressive NGOs

Government Grants Under Scrutiny

The House Government’s Efficiency Subcommittee has brought to light how some non-governmental organizations (NGOs) may be using taxpayer money to push a left-leaning agenda. During a recent hearing, Democrats appeared amused as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, pointed out these grants made under former President Joe Biden’s administration. The situation seems to unveil a concerning connection between the government and various NGOs, many of which have innocuous-sounding names.

“Today, I’m going to shed some light on this issue,” Greene announced at the Wednesday hearing.

“It’s absolutely reasonable to question these processes and ask for transparency,” she added.

One striking example discussed involved a group called the Power Forward Community, which claims to focus on “decarbonization” in the United States. This organization received a whopping $2 billion from the government via the National Cleaning Investment Fund, despite being just a few months old and having a mere $100 in the bank. Notably, Stacey Abrams, who previously ran for governor as a Democrat, has partnered with this group.

“Yes, it’s perfectly legal to set up a nonprofit, get IRS accreditation, and then apply for government grants,” Daniel Turner, a future founder, commented at the hearing. “But again, it is valid to question this entire process and demand some transparency.” He further critiqued the situation, stating, “No private sector company would hand over 20 million times that amount—only the government would be reckless enough to do that.”

Greene chimed in, “Americans support nonprofits, but they definitely do not support corruption, waste, fraud, and abuse.”

Biden’s energy initiatives, many of which were authorized via an autopen, have led to a series of grants and contracts being awarded to NGOs.

Turner characterized this as a “government farce,” stressing that while staff may genuinely work on behalf of the president, the executive orders identified do not reflect any direct input from Biden himself.

“Whether we’re misusing taxpayer money to promote illegal immigration or misguided environmental policies, these NGOs on the left are fundamentally altering American life,” Greene remarked. “This continual waste of taxpayer resources must cease.”
