Social media users against Trump humorously welcome Musk during his conflict with the president: ‘Join the resistance’

On Thursday, social media users critical of President Trump took to X-Post to voice their disapproval of Elon Musk, who had come under scrutiny for his support of the prime minister’s administration. They greeted Musk sarcastically.

George Conway, a conservative lawyer and anti-Trump figure, echoed this discontent, saying, “I’m @@ELONMUSK!!!! Don’t do that?” He was reacting to Musk’s comments on Trump’s proposed legislation, which he referred to as “one big beautiful bill.”

Responses came from Trump’s supporters on X, with one calling Musk the treasurer, celebrating Trump’s expected victory in the 2024 election. The reaction? “Welcome to resistance,” another user chimed in.

One anti-Trump user expressed feelings of desperation, stating, “I think we’re desperate,” highlighting the intensity of emotions surrounding these discussions.

Rick Wilson, a co-founder of the Lincoln Project, shared ironic congratulations for Musk’s remarks about Trump’s “inratiturity.” An anti-Trump GOP operative, meanwhile, responded, “As you said!” reflecting a shared sense of disbelief.

Jamie Weinstein, a temporary host on X, speculated about Musk’s next big move, asking if he might host a podcast, mentioning figures like Anthony Scaramucci and Michael Cohen, both former Trump allies turned critics.

In the Oval Office, Trump expressed disappointment over Musk’s influence, particularly regarding legislation crucial to his second-term agenda. He lamented, “Elon ‘wears thin.’ I even asked him to leave. He forced everyone to buy electric cars that no one else wanted!” This sentiment captured the complex and often contentious relationship between the former president and the tech mogul.

Musk and his companies have also hinted at forming a new political party, amidst ongoing controversies regarding management’s handling of documents related to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
