Diddy Requests Softer Sketch Amid Trial

During the sex trafficking trial, which resumed after lunch on Thursday, Sean “Diddy” Combs made an intriguing request to courtroom sketch artist Jane Rosenberg. As he faced her, he quipped, “Make me a little softer, you make me look like a koala bear.”

The 55-year-old music mogul has pleaded not guilty to five counts including assault conspiracy and sex trafficking. Throughout the trial, he’s been seen sporting a sweater along with gray hair and a goatee.

Rosenberg, well-known for her courtroom sketches, has been documenting the proceedings in Manhattan Federal Court, where cameras are not allowed, capturing the nuances of the case through her art.

Interestingly, Combs isn’t the first high-profile defendant to comment on Rosenberg’s portrayals. Earlier this year, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani expressed his dissatisfaction, saying she made him look like a dog during his own court appearance related to false election fraud allegations. In 2023, Donald Trump Jr. also made remarks about her work while involved in a civil fraud trial against his family’s real estate business.

Combs has been active in court, often seen displaying heart gestures towards his family during breaks. However, his demeanor didn’t go unnoticed by US District Judge Arun Subramanian, who criticized Combs for nodding at the judge during the cross-examination of a witness. The judge deemed the behavior “unacceptable” and warned that he would remove Combs from the courtroom if it continued.

If convicted, Combs could face a lengthy prison sentence, possibly life behind bars. It’s evident that the tension in the courtroom is palpable, mixed with moments of levity interwoven with serious implications.
