Charlamagne Calls Out Democrats on Biden’s Performance
In a recent interview with Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell, radio host Charlamagne Tha God expressed his concerns regarding the perceived decline of President Joe Biden. On Tuesday’s episode of “The Breakfast Club,” Charlamagne challenged Swalwell, suggesting that the Democrats have been putting on a facade about Biden’s leadership.
Swalwell defended his party, stating, “I don’t think many of us were honest about him,” and admitted that he hadn’t spent much time with Biden personally. Charlamagne wasn’t satisfied with this response and shared his frustration during a conversation with comedian Andrew Schultz on the “Glorious Idiot” podcast, expressing that many in power seem out of touch.
Charlamagne criticized Democrats who claim ignorance about Biden’s issues, asserting, “You have to cut it—you’re around him!” He implied that to truly lead the party, they should be more critical of their own. Schultz echoed his sentiment, insisting that those who want to shape the future of the party need to confront the reality of Biden’s leadership.
Charlamagne pointed out that even those who haven’t met Biden can see the issues, questioning the honesty of those in power. He remarked that the media’s late acknowledgment of Biden’s shortcomings does little to remedy the situation. “You have the same eyes, the same ears as me,” he said, implying that there should have been greater acknowledgment earlier on.
He also referenced CNN host Jake Tapper’s new book, suggesting that it comes too late to address Biden’s shortcomings effectively. Overall, Charlamagne called for greater accountability from legacy media and asked that they be held to the same standards applied to social media and podcast creators.
Schultz concluded by highlighting a double standard in media treatment, criticizing how critics often overlook the failures of traditional news outlets while scrutinizing newer platforms. Both he and Charlamagne seemed to arrive at a shared concern about the current state of Democratic leadership and media honesty.
