Some key engineers are suggesting that President Trump might move to ban Elon Musk’s X platform if their ongoing conflict intensifies.
This week, the once amicable relationship took a sharp turn as both figures publicly criticized each other on their platforms.
The former Disney star, who has transitioned to an AI expert, warned that tensions could justify government restrictions on social media under the guise of national security.
“The President has the authority to label X a national security threat, which could lead to a complete ban of the platform,” noted a representative from Undetectable AI, a tool designed to make AI text sound more human and already used by millions.
Leos remarked, “Elon is undeniably intelligent, but he has these emotional ups and downs. His campaigns and outbursts could provoke Trump to assert his power.”
“It’s certainly within Trump’s capability to issue such an executive order,” he continued.
The situation escalated this week when Musk criticized Trump’s significant legislation, referring to it as “filled with pork… hateful.”
“Now Musk finds himself in a tough position. He could retaliate by banning Trump from X, but that would almost certainly provoke a response from the White House,” Leos forecasted.
Leos speculated that Trump might reference Musk’s recent comments linking him to controversial figures in the Epstein Files.
“If there’s any truth to those claims or if he touches on sensitive information, it could be seen as a national security concern,” he explained.
Leos believes legal grounds for such a ban may already be in place, and it’s probable that Trump would use an international emergency economic force law.
He added that the fallout from this conflict could spark broader debates about the governance and political roles of social media platforms.
Meanwhile, Trump stated on Friday that he has no desire to engage with Musk as their conflict deepens.
