Protests Erupt in San Antonio Against ICE Deportation Efforts

More than 300 individuals gathered in San Antonio to voice their anger over a recent Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation initiative. Organized by the Party for Socialism and Liberation, the protest aimed to rally opposition against the Trump administration’s immigration policies, similar to efforts in Los Angeles.

Observers noted that the gathering took place on the steps of city hall, drawing various activist groups focused on abolishing ICE and halting its operations directed at undocumented immigrants. Members of the Bexar County Democrats, Women’s March San Antonio, and the 5051 movement distributed flyers encouraging participation in upcoming anti-ICE events while warning of a supposed “alliance of white nationalists and the ultra-rich” that threatens democracy.

As onlookers and passersby witnessed the rally, chants filled the air—phrases like “F-ICE,” and slogans declaring the need for liberation echoed. Many attendees waved flags, including those of Mexico and Palestine, showcasing their support for diverse leftist causes. Some signs contained inflammatory messages aimed at President Trump and ICE officials.

Organizers encouraged attendees to speak out, advocating for community awareness regarding ICE activities and emphasizing the importance of collective resistance. This demonstration occurred alongside ongoing violent protests in Los Angeles, where the national branch of the Socialism and Liberation Party continued to motivate members to protest actively.

Despite the tense atmosphere, the San Antonio protest reportedly concluded without the violence seen in Los Angeles. A police presence was noted, yet interactions between law enforcement and participants were minimal.

The heightened focus on ICE enforcement in recent weeks has ignited outrage among leftist organizations within the city. This discontent was exacerbated by recent ICE actions, including an arrest initiative on the campus of a state university earlier this month.

Additionally, there were reports of arrests just outside the Federal Immigration Court in San Antonio, following the rejection of an undocumented individual’s case by a federal judge, which will expedite their removal from the country.
