Los Angeles Protests Spark National Guard Deployment

Over the previous weekend, Los Angeles was engulfed in protests that turned violent, leading President Trump to authorize the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops. The mainstream media is now faced with criticism over their portrayal of the protests as, well, “almost peaceful.”

Glenn Beck has responded to this media narrative, asserting that there’s a stark difference between the reported calm and the reality on the ground. He likened the protest footage to a “Mad Max Fury Road audition reel,” implying a chaotic scene that contradicts the media’s claims.

He further questioned the notion of “voluntary, grassroots” initiatives highlighted by the media, noting the disparity between the protesters’ narratives. Instead, he stated that many were flaunting flags from historically oppressive regimes while news anchors were mischaracterizing them as regular citizens.

According to Beck, around 75% of the protest activities were funded by taxpayer dollars. He pointed out connections between current political figures and previous riots, suggesting a pattern of behavior that raises questions about their motives.

“This all seems to have ignited simply because they were apprehending poor immigrants seeking a better life,” he remarked sarcastically, underscoring the underlying tensions.

On another note, the recent ICE raid in Los Angeles saw over 100 arrests, predominantly involving individuals with criminal backgrounds. For instance, Rolando Enriquez, a 55-year-old national from the Philippines, has a criminal record involving severe offenses including theft and rape.

Similarly, Jose Gregorio Medlanda Ortiz from Ecuador has been arrested for drug-related conspiracy, while Victor Mendoza Aguilar, a 32-year-old Mexican national, was apprehended for multiple charges ranging from possession of illegal tools to assault. The pattern of arrests reveals a concerning trend among those targeted by ICE over the weekend.

In the face of these events, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass expressed her outrage, criticizing the tactics employed during the raids as fear-mongering tactics that undermine community safety. Her office has been in communication with immigration rights groups, reflecting the tension in local governance.

California Governor Gavin Newsom also weighed in, although many found his response lacking. Meanwhile, videos from the protests revealed scenes of chaos that contradicted claims of peace.
