Charges Filed Against Justice Department Employee for Forced Abortion
A worker from the Justice Department faces capital murder charges after reportedly causing her girlfriend to miscarry by secretly administering abortion pills. This incident, according to authorities, occurred at a coffee shop in Texas.
Justin Banta, a 38-year-old IT staff member, was arrested on Friday following allegations that he intentionally added a “Plan C” abortion drug to his girlfriend’s drink without her knowledge or consent, leading to the termination of her pregnancy.
In addition to the murder charges by the Texas Rangers, Banta was charged with tampering with physical evidence. As of now, the Department of Justice has not responded to inquiries regarding the case.
The girlfriend, who wishes to remain anonymous, described their relationship and how they discovered her pregnancy in September 2024. She had mentioned covering the costs for an abortion and suggested they order “Plan C” online, although she ultimately expressed a desire to keep the baby. After a sonogram on October 17, it was revealed she was about six weeks along.
Later that same day, she met Banta, who reportedly provided her with a drink that he had purchased earlier. Video footage indicated she had consumed the entire beverage. The following day, she began experiencing severe fatigue and heavy bleeding, prompting her to seek medical attention. Tragically, she lost the baby on October 19.
Police also seized Banta’s cell phone as part of the investigation. During questioning, he purportedly acknowledged buying abortion pills, but also seemed aware that investigators would confront him about the miscarriage. Law enforcement suspects that Banta might access his phone remotely to erase crucial evidence related to the case.
Banta was released after posting a bond of $500,000 for the capital murder charge and an additional $20,000 for the tampering offense.
