Anti-ICE Protest in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Outside a federal immigration courtroom in downtown San Antonio, members of the Socialism and Liberation Party organized an anti-ICE protest that drew over 100 attendees. One notably engaged speaker, who identified himself as a public school teacher, led the crowd in hymns advocating for the abolition of ICE and the police.
A video captured by Breitbart Texas featured Cory Rosen, a public school teacher and organizer with the San Antonio chapter of the PSL, during Sunday’s protest outside City Hall. The demonstrators brandished anti-ICE placards and waved Mexican and Palestinian flags. Rosen used a bullhorn to guide the crowd in chants throughout the mid-afternoon rally.
This marked a shift from earlier times when teachers welcomed police officers and first responders into classrooms as role models. Rosen’s hymns calling for “Peace Without Justice, ICE, and Police” suggest a stark change in sentiment.
During his speech, Rosen addressed the recent arrests in Alamo, expressing sorrow over his neighbors’ disappearances and rallying the crowd with cries of “We organize, educate, fight back!”
His socialist views extend beyond immigration, with chants like, “There is no peace in the stolen land, from Palestine to Rio Grande!” resonating throughout the protest.
According to Breitbart Texas, the PSL has also organized similar rallies in Los Angeles that turned violent over the weekend, with signs carried in San Antonio mirroring those seen in Los Angeles demonstrations.
Additionally, reports indicate that the San Antonio ICE Field Office has intensified deportation efforts in the Alamo area. Recently, officials uncovered undocumented workers at a construction site on the University of Texas, San Antonio campus.
