Home Invasion in Queens

New footage from the NYPD highlights a disturbing incident involving two intruders who pretended to be Amazon employees. They invaded a family home in Queens earlier this week, tying up everyone inside, including three children, and making off with a substantial amount of money.

Released by the police on Tuesday night, the video features one suspect dressed in a purple outfit, wearing a baseball cap and a bright yellow safety vest while carrying what looks like an Amazon package.

At about 7:40 a.m. on Monday, a 43-year-old man opened the door of his detached home on 12th Avenue, near 152nd Avenue, unaware of the danger that awaited him.

The pair then forced the family—comprising two 39-year-old women and an 18-year-old, along with two boys aged 10 and five—down into the basement, as per the officers’ report.

After binding the victims and placing duct tape over their mouths, the robbers ransacked the house, reportedly stealing around $16,000, as well as some jewelry and electronics.

Using the victims’ own silver Chrysler minivan, the suspects fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle two blocks away.

A witness, John Nardonae, recounted a frightening experience. As he arrived at work, he saw a man emerging from the house with duct tape still on his face. “I asked if he was okay,” Nardonne recalled. The man told him that his children were still in the basement.

“I was really questioning if this was genuine,” Nardonne reflected. “It was shocking to see someone come out of a house that way.”

The NYPD is actively working to capture the robbers.
