Bruce Springsteen’s Ongoing Critique of Trump on European Tour
Bruce Springsteen, now 75, remains consistent in his criticism of President Donald Trump on his current European tour. It seems like, well, not a night goes by without him making pointed remarks about the current administration. This trend continued on a recent Wednesday evening in Berlin, Germany.
Performing to tens of thousands at a stadium originally built for the 1936 Olympics, Springsteen addressed his audience passionately. “Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and our American experiment to stand up with us, to raise your voice, to stand with us against authoritarianism and to govern freedom,” he declared.
In his political commentary that night, he touched on various pressing issues, including recent incidents involving immigrants, federal funds for universities, and the measles outbreak. His talk was visually complemented by text in German displayed on a large screen beside the stage.
He concluded with a stark message, reminding everyone that if things feel eerily familiar, it might be for a reason.
Earlier in the month, Springsteen had also released a new EP titled A Land of Hope and Dreams, featuring live recordings from a show in Manchester, replete with sharp critiques aimed at Trump.
His discontent with the president is long-standing, describing Trump’s administration as “corrupted, incompetent, and offensive,” while denouncing his lack of concern for the essence of being American.
This isn’t the first time Springsteen has gone after Trump and the Republican Party; his history of critique is well-documented. Back in 2016, he expressed disdain for the candidate, characterizing him as a threat to the democratic process, and accused him of lacking decency.
In the years that followed, he didn’t hold back, even labeling Trump as a “Conman” in protest songs and critiquing his intelligence. It’s clear this battle of words shows little sign of fading anytime soon.
