China Expresses Serious Concern After Iran Loses Key Terror Leaders to Israeli Attacks

China Responds to Israeli Operations Against Iran

China’s Foreign Ministry has expressed support for Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, while also criticizing the escalation of tensions following recent Israeli military actions targeting Iranian leaders.

During a regular briefing, spokesman Lin Jian stated that China is closely monitoring Israel’s attacks on Iran and is worried about the potential serious repercussions. He emphasized that China opposes actions undermining Iran’s sovereignty and further escalating conflict in the region.

Jian remarked, “The rapid intensification in the region will not serve anyone’s interests. China encourages all parties to pursue actions that promote peace and stability, rather than escalating tensions. We stand ready to play a constructive role in resolving the situation.”

Alongside its official statement, the Chinese government issued guidance for its citizens in Israel, warning them of potential retaliatory strikes from Iran following an early morning assault.

A report from a Chinese state media outlet highlighted the current security situation as complicated and serious, urging Chinese citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and prepared for possible attacks, including missiles or drones.

The advisory recommended strengthening safety precautions, limiting outdoor activities, and avoiding military facilities and sensitive areas unless absolutely necessary.

Earlier, Israel announced “Operation Raising Lion,” targeting top Iranian military figures and nuclear facilities in an effort to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted air raids on Iranian positions, striking various sites involved in uranium enrichment as well as the homes of senior military figures.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu underscored the threat from Iran, stating that Tehran’s leadership has long been intent on destroying Israel while developing nuclear capabilities.

Iran confirmed the deaths of several high-ranking military officials, including Major General Hossein Salami, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The IRGC plays a significant role in Iran’s military and is designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. Others reported killed include the Military Chief of Staff and several nuclear scientists.

Before the attack, the United Nations had unexpected developments, citing Iran’s unauthorized nuclear advancements through a resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The resolution, backed by only a few countries including China, indicated concerns about secret uranium enrichment sites in Iran.

China maintains strong ties with Iran, seeking to enhance its influence in the Middle East. Chinese President Xi Jinping met with an envoy from Iran in October, expressing intentions to strengthen cooperation. With Chinese support, Iran became a member of the BRICS association aimed at countering U.S. dominance.

Since signing a significant 25-year partnership agreement in 2021, China has invested in various sectors of the Iranian economy, particularly in oil, committing around $40 billion.

China is also a key player for Iran in circumventing international sanctions aimed at stemming its nuclear activities. Recently, the U.S. Treasury announced sanctions against Chinese and Iranian companies related to violations of these sanctions.

The U.S. has made it clear it will continue targeting Iran’s oil trade, viewing it as vital to funding activities perceived as dangerous and destabilizing.
