Upcoming Social Security Payments for June
Many Americans are looking forward to their social security checks this month, with some payments scheduled to arrive within days.
On Wednesday, June 18th, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will distribute payments according to its monthly schedule.
This includes the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Survivor Benefits, which will also be sent out next Wednesday.
Who Will Receive Payments on June 18th?
About 70 million individuals benefit from various social security programs, including retirement, SSDI, or survivor benefits. Most payments are distributed on three designated Wednesdays each month.
The assigned Wednesdays for payments depend on the recipient’s date of birth.
For June, those whose birthdays fall between the 11th and 20th will receive their benefits checks on June 18th.
This month’s payment cycle started on June 11th, when checks were issued to beneficiaries born in the first ten days.
June 2025 Payment Schedule:
- Wednesday, June 11th: Recipients born on the 1st to 10th
- Wednesday, June 18th: Recipients born on the 11th to 20th
- Wednesday, June 25th: Recipients born on the 21st to 31st
Who Receives Payments Outside the Regular Schedule?
If you began claiming your retirement, SSDI, or survivor benefits before May 1997, you typically receive your payment on the third of each month, regardless of your birthday.
Additionally, beneficiaries of Supplementary Security Income (SSI)—which is aimed at low-income individuals over 65 or those with disabilities—usually receive their checks on the first of each month.
Typically, SSI recipients get paid before those receiving regular social security benefits. However, since June started on a Sunday this year, the SSI payment was issued early on Friday, May 30th.

- Tuesday, June 3: Social Security Beneficiaries who started from May 1997
For those receiving both: SSI was paid on May 30th, while Social Security payments were distributed on June 3rd.

Average Monthly Payments for Social Security Retirees
For most retirees, the average monthly benefit is just over $2,000. To be precise, it’s currently about $2,002.39, based on recent SSA data.
The maximum possible monthly retirement check can reach up to $5,108.
Payments for Other SSA Beneficiaries
Disabled workers typically receive around $1,581.97 each month, while survivors receive an average of $1,566.66. SSI beneficiaries receive about $718.30 monthly.
