German PM Praises Israeli Strikes on Iran
German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz has stated that Israel’s actions against Iran can be seen as “dirty work” for the international community, commending the country’s significant strike against the Islamic Republic that aligns with the interests of its Western allies.
In an interview with ZDF during the G7 Summit, Merz acknowledged that Israel is doing what others might not be willing to do. “We are also victims of this administration,” he remarked, emphasizing the destructive impact of the Mullah government. “This regime has brought death and destruction to the world.”
He expressed admiration for the courage shown by the Israeli military and government, suggesting that their actions may have averted prolonged fears regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities. “Without their actions, we might have seen these concerns continue for months, or even years,” he noted.
Merz also indicated that the recent attacks on Iran’s leadership have considerably undermined the Mullah regime, making it unlikely for it to regain its former strength.
While stating that diplomatic measures are still a viable option, he warned of potential consequences if Iran does not engage. “If they’re willing to come back to the negotiating table, no further military intervention will be necessary. Otherwise, the complete dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program may have to be considered,” he suggested.
These comments came as President Trump returned to Washington, D.C., after attending a G7 conference in Canada. The summit continued without him, as the White House confirmed his early departure amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
Upon his arrival back in the capital, Trump told reporters he felt the Iranians were “very close” to obtaining nuclear weapons.
When probed about what might be necessary for a ceasefire, Trump responded, “The real end.” When a reporter pressed for clarity, he affirmed, “Yeah, or give up completely — that’s fine too.”
