Co-Host of 'The View' Suggests Deportation Will Lead to Higher Grocery Prices

Navarro Warns of Grocery Price Hikes Due to Farm Enforcement Updates

Ana Navarro, a co-host of “The View,” expressed concerns on Tuesday that new enforcement actions on farms could lead to increased grocery prices. This statement follows the Department of Homeland Security’s announcement that illegal immigrants working on farms and in hotels may come under scrutiny from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This announcement coincided with President Donald Trump’s suggestion that these operations could be paused to focus on sanctuary cities.

Navarro stated that these changes would likely result in rising prices at grocery stores. She mentioned on “CNN Newsnight,” “What happens here is discovering that milk is much higher because you don’t know if you’ve been on a dairy farm or not.” She added that food prices, including vegetables, are already seeing increments.

“Undocumented immigration plays a significant role in our economy and society, whether people want to accept it or not,” she noted.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a year-on-year rise of 2.4% in May, up from 2.3% in April. Interestingly, grocery prices have decreased over the past five years, partly due to a significant drop in egg prices.

ICE operations have met with pushback in various areas across the country. President Trump deployed 700 Marines on June 9 to support the federal National Guard amid ongoing protests, which erupted following a June 6 ICE incident in Los Angeles. Protesters also targeted an ICE facility in Portland, Oregon, resulting in injuries to several officers.

Resistance to these operations includes actions from Judge Milwaukee, who allegedly intervened to prevent ICE agents from making arrests, as well as Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, who has sought to disclose information about interactions with ICE. Additionally, Brad Lander, a candidate for mayor in New York City, was reportedly arrested on Tuesday by ICE agents for allegedly obstructing their operations at a Manhattan courthouse.
