Delaware Mother Claims Kidnapping, Admits to Gruesome Truth

Last week, a 31-year-old mother from Maryland reported to the police that her 3-year-old daughter had been abducted in Delaware.

Daryan Randle stated she was driving in Newark around 7 PM on June 10 when the incident occurred. Initially, she described the suspect as a middle-aged white man who allegedly approached her daughter. He purportedly lured the child close under the pretense of offering a hug.

According to Randle, the man was around 40 years old, dressed in a black hoodie and gray basketball shorts, with fuzz on his head. She added that he was driving a dark SUV, possibly a Ford or Chevy, alongside a blonde woman.

Details emerged when an Amber Alert was issued later that evening, providing descriptions of the suspect’s vehicle. However, the alert was canceled the following morning when police deemed Randle’s initial statement to be false.

Andrea Botterbush of the Newcastle County Police Department stated, “Detectives found the first explanation given by Randle to be untruthful.”

Maryland State Police were requested to visit Randle’s boyfriend’s last known address to check on the child and validate Randle’s statements. The police visited Cedric Antoine Britten, who confirmed that the child was not at his residence but had left with Randle.

Upon reviewing surveillance footage outside the house, it only captured Randle leaving, not the child. Oddly, during the search, police noticed the distinct smell of cleaning products, particularly bleach.

Upon inspecting Britten’s vehicle, they discovered a child’s blanket with a red-brown stain resembling blood. Britten claimed he had received the blanket from a stranger last summer while at a park.

Randle was subsequently interviewed and initially made several misleading statements. She eventually confessed that her earlier claims were fabricated.

Investigating further, authorities learned that she had assaulted the child at Britten’s home. Randle reportedly admitted to “physically disciplining” the child—implying she struck her with a belt multiple times.

The child fell unresponsive, and Randle’s account detailed how she and Britten attempted unsuccessful CPR. In a panic, they placed the child’s body in Britten’s car before finally stashing it in a suitcase.

Later, investigators discovered the suitcase containing the child’s corpse in a nearby area. Reports stated the body was cleanly wrapped in plastic.

The medical examiner’s office is still working to confirm the identity and cause of death, with autopsy results pending. On June 11, Randle was arrested, facing charges, including first-degree murder and child abuse.

Britten has also been charged as an accessory to the crimes but was released on bail after a judge deemed him eligible for a reduced bond.

Community reactions have been intense. A local business employee said the incident left everyone feeling “shocked and saddened,” highlighting that it has hit close to home for many families.

Another resident expressed disbelief at the tragedy, stating, “It’s horrifying to think that something so terrible can happen to a child.”
