Manhunt for Washington Father Accused of Triple Homicide
A manhunt has intensified for a father accused of murdering his three daughters, prompting local and federal law enforcement to search the dense wilderness of Washington. Authorities are focusing on areas like Teanaway Valley and Blue Wet Pass as they continue their search for Travis Decker, now entering its third week.
The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office has urged residents with trail or doorbell cameras to check for any suspicious activity, emphasizing that even small details could be significant. “If you have homes in these areas, check what you might be missing,” they advised.
Decker, who is suspected of killing his daughters—nine-year-old Peitin, eight-year-old Evelyn, and five-year-old Olivia—disappeared shortly after their bodies were found near a campground earlier this month. Reports indicate that their bodies were discovered with plastic bags over their heads and their hands bound.
Authorities began searching for Decker on May 30, after the ex-wife reported he had not returned the children following a court-mandated visit. Three days post the report, the daughters were tragically found near his abandoned vehicle.
Recently, there have been unconfirmed sightings of individuals believed to be unprepared hikers close to Lake Kolchuck, which is about 40 miles from Bullwet Pass. When authorities investigated these tips, they noted the only trail-off hiker was spotted from a helicopter.
An updated flyer was released, showcasing how Decker might have altered his appearance during his time in the wilderness. This poster includes images of him with and without facial hair, as well as in different hats.
It’s worth noting that the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office also mentioned a video circulating on TikTok claiming Decker had been arrested, which they clarified was false.
Decker, a former military member with survival skills, is considered armed and potentially dangerous, though officials state there is no indication he poses a threat to public safety at this time. A reward of $20,000 has been offered for information leading to his arrest.
