Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed a way to resolve the ongoing military tensions between Iran and Israel. He acknowledged the complexity of the situation, stating, “This is a very sensitive issue and requires very careful action.” He expressed optimism, believing that a solution could be reached.
Putin suggested that Iran can pursue its nuclear program for non-military purposes while ensuring its security. “We’re not trying to impose anything on anyone. We simply make our perspective clear about potential solutions,” he remarked.
In a recent interview with ABC News, President Trump mentioned his conversation with Putin but clarified that Russia was not playing a mediating role in the matter. He expressed openness to the idea, stating, “I’d be open to that. [Putin] is ready. He called me about it. We talked about it for a long time.”
Russia has established itself as a key ally of Iran, having signed a “Strategic Partnership” earlier this year. Putin defended Iran’s uranium enrichment efforts, highlighting the potential for collaboration in developing non-military nuclear technologies for fields like agriculture and medicine.
On the other hand, the U.S. remains a strong ally of Israel. Trump has been holding meetings with top security officials to explore intervention strategies on Israel’s behalf. However, he refrained from detailing any military plans, sidestepping questions about a possible strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities. “I might do that. I might not do that. I mean, no one knows what I’m trying to do,” he stated, noting that “Iran has a lot of trouble and they say they want to negotiate.”
In related developments, Putin spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping about the escalating crisis, with both countries condemning Israel’s actions as violations of international law. A Kremlin official informed reporters that both parties share similar views. Xi emphasized the urgency of finding a solution, stating that China is prepared to foster communication and coordination among all involved, aiming to support justice and achieve peace in the Middle East.
