Omar Critiques US Government Tactics, Labels It a “Police State”
Ilhan Omar, a member of the far-left “squad,” has expressed concerns that the United States is evolving into a “police state.” She points to President Trump as the one embodying “hate” toward the nation’s core values, rather than extreme leftists.
Opposing the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and supporting protests, Omar seems to equate these actions with the creation of a police state. She has echoed leftist narratives regarding the detention and deportation of individuals with serious criminal backgrounds, including those convicted of second-degree murder and child abuse.
“We are in the midst of creating a police state, where armed individuals in casual clothes are trying to forcibly take people off the streets. Troops are now deployed on our city streets.” Notably, she did not mention the deployment of military resources to quell riots in Los Angeles.
Recently, at least 10 deputies were reported injured in confrontations with rioters, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert G. Luna.
Omar accused Trump of being a “failed dictator,” asserting that he is “in the process of destroying our country.”
“I think anyone involved in such destruction should look in the mirror. It’s Trump who seems to harbor disdain for American values and what we’ve built together,” she remarked.
“The fact is, opposing views are constitutionally protected under the First Amendment for everyone in this country,” she added.
Omar raised concerns about the president’s threats to utilize law enforcement more aggressively, asking, “Will police become that heavy-handed? Will military forces be deployed?” This remark came while seemingly overlooking the recent instances of violent riots.
She concluded with a warning, stating, “Americans should be wary. If we don’t stand up for ourselves, for the Constitution, and our Republic, we could be heading down a perilous path.”
