Israeli Air Force’s Historic Campaign Against Iran
Israeli pilots were already in the air when U.S. forces initiated strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. This operation was seen as critical not only for Israel’s own security but also part of a larger initiative to confront global threats.
In a unique interview with Fox News Digital, two female combat officers from the Israeli Air Force (IAF) shared insights into Israel’s ongoing air campaign against Iran, though their identities remain confidential for security reasons. They emphasized that this operation represents not just a struggle for their nation’s survival, but a broader fight against worldwide threats.
“For several days, we’ve been executing precise and determined actions against the existential risk posed by the Iranian regime, stretching from western Iran to central Tehran,” explained one of the female combat navigators. “We’ve established air superiority, neutralized vital infrastructure, and taken out more than a third of Iran’s missile capabilities. Each mission is aimed at one objective: safeguarding Israel and ensuring the safety of our citizens.”
Major Developments in the Campaign
Experts suggest Israel’s military campaign against Iran could mark a significant turning point. The offensive began with a large-scale preemptive strike, fueled by intelligence assessments indicating a growing threat from Iran’s missile deployments and nuclear advancements. Within hours, the IAF unleashed a coordinated assault targeting strategic military and nuclear sites across Iran.
So far, the IAF has achieved complete air dominance, allowing them to conduct deep strikes with little resistance. According to Israeli defense officials, dozens of fighter jets have struck over 1,000 high-value targets. Significant strikes were aimed at a sophisticated Russian-made air defense system, parts of the Natantuuran enrichment site, a long-range missile depot near Hadan, a drone command center, and IRGC headquarters, among others.
Operating from a private base, the IAF pilots described their mission as operational but also personal.
In speaking about their goals, one pilot stated, “Our immediate focus is on defending Israeli citizens, but the stakes are global. Israel is currently engaged in a battle representing the Western world and its civilizations. We’re taking out key threats, whether they’re overseas terrorist operations, ballistic missiles, or risks to vessels around the Persian Gulf and Red Sea.”
Iran’s historical threats to Israel, including calls for its destruction, are seen as justifications for these operations. “They have missiles aimed at us. Their nuclear ambitions target us. Without this first strike, their threats could have materialized in just a few years,” he added.
The sense of purpose the pilots feel is palpable. They report being focused during missions, with little room for hesitation. “You’re highly aware and concerned when in the cockpit. You can reflect on it once you’re back home, but during the mission, the priority is executing your task correctly,” one pilot explained.
For them, this mission intertwines strategy with a sense of national duty. “There’s a direct connection between what we’re doing and Israel’s safety,” the pilot noted. “We’re neutralizing accurate missile threats against our hospitals and homes. Personally, it’s a significant honor to play a role in this effort, and I feel both proud and humbled to be part of such a large operation and a united nation standing with the IAF.”
