Israel Warns Iran That War Is About to Conclude

Israel’s Message to Iran: War May End Soon

Israel has reportedly communicated to Iran, via an intermediary, its intention to conclude the ongoing conflict within a few days. Interestingly, this comes amid a noticeable increase in its military operations and a broader range of targets being struck this week.

According to Israeli Channel 12, the message indicates that Israel seeks to finish a military engagement marked by air and missile assaults swiftly. While analysts from Army Radio shared thoughts that Iran and Israel, as well as Iran and the U.S., have informally agreed to end the hostilities without a formal ceasefire or treaty, it’s noteworthy that Iran lacks any diplomatic relations with both Israel and the U.S.

The Iranian leadership has dismissed suggestions of a potential agreement, instead implying that any discussions about a ceasefire may be more one-sided, originating from the U.S. and Israel.

Citing historical precedence, Israeli sources mentioned that a ceasefire similar to the one put in place during the Lebanon conflict in November could be possible. With no formal ties between the countries, Israel maintains its right to act against Hezbollah and other militant groups operating from Lebanese territory.

For decades, Iran has been in a state of declared conflict with Israel and the United States. The current round of hostilities escalated when Hezbollah, acting as a proxy for Iran, attacked Israel on October 7, 2023. Shortly afterward, the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels targeted Israeli civilians and shipping routes in the Red Sea.

In response, Israel systematically countered these proxies, culminating in a surprise strike on Iran on June 13. Following this, Israel indicated that it believed its conflict with Iran might conclude within two weeks—implying a deadline that falls on this Friday.

While there is a desire for the military engagement to lessen, Israel is intensifying its strikes on key elements of the Iranian regime, potentially aiming to empower Iran’s internal opposition. Although a change of government in Iran isn’t officially stated as a goal, the objective appears to be destabilizing the regime to make way for new leadership.

Many Israelis are notably focused on the fate of the approximately 50 hostages still held by Hamas, with concerns regarding the war remaining secondary until those individuals are returned.

In a related note, Iran launched ballistic missiles at two U.S. bases in the Middle East earlier this week. Fortunately, American defenses intercepted the missiles. Reports suggested that Iran hinted at the impending attack to limit American retaliation, framing the action more as a way to save face rather than inflict serious damage.

The potential conclusion of this conflict could signify a remarkable victory for Israel and a significant setback for Iran. There are those within the Trump administration who may herald this situation as a major achievement too.

The former president might argue that he not only met his campaign promise to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions but also, echoing his words from his 2015 announcement, succeeded in avoiding a prolonged conflict.
