During his reelection campaign, Shawn Strickland, a dedicated supporter of President Donald Trump and the former UFC middleweight champion, expressed concerns over the weekend regarding a recent U.S. military strike on three Iranian nuclear facilities.
In a post on social media, Strickland questioned the benefits of military action in Iran for the ordinary American citizen. He commented, “What happened in America at the beginning? Cost of living, incredible wages, inflation… We didn’t vote for taxes to protect Israel. We voted for taxes to help Americans.”
Moreover, Strickland urged Trump to steer clear of involvement in the Israeli conflict. However, on Saturday, U.S. military forces targeted key nuclear sites in Iran, which Trump hailed as a significant success that could hinder Iran’s development of nuclear weapons.
On the following day, Iran attempted to retaliate by launching missiles at the U.S. Al-Udeid Air Force Base in Qatar. The Qatari Foreign Ministry described the attack as “brave,” although they claimed that all missiles were intercepted successfully.
Trump dismissed Iran’s response as “very weak,” and stated that, despite four missiles being launched, there had been minimal damage, and fortunately, no Americans were harmed. He noted, “They responded in a very weak manner to the destruction of their nuclear facilities.”
