Trump’s Stance on Iran’s Nuclear Program
On Tuesday, President Trump asserted that Iran would never be able to “restructure” its nuclear program, claiming that there is already an agreement to restore the position of Tehran’s atomic chief, which had been affected by airstrikes.
“Iran will never rebuild its nuclear facilities!” Trump stated in a social media post.
The US recently conducted significant airstrikes using powerful bunker-buster bombs on three Iranian nuclear sites, receiving applause for their precision following the attacks early on Sunday.
Iran’s nuclear chief, Mohammad Eslami, responded on Tuesday by acknowledging the damage but insisted that Tehran was ready for the challenge. He mentioned, “The plan is to avoid disruptions in production and services,” as reported by Iranian state media. Eslami also noted that measures were being taken to revive Iran’s nuclear sector.
This development arose as Trump criticized both Israel and Iran for breaching a ceasefire he had facilitated just hours earlier. “I think they both violated,” he remarked regarding Israel’s threats to resume airstrikes after Iran condemned “blatant violations” of the truce. “It’s essentially two countries that have been at it for ages, and I honestly don’t know what they’re doing. Do you get it?”
In a later social media post, Trump claimed that a ceasefire had been reestablished, stating, “Israel is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn and go home.”
Iran’s nuclear program faced severe damage after Israel’s surprise attack on June 13. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the operation had successfully targeted Iran’s nuclear capabilities and missile programs.
