Micron Technology Reports Third Quarter Results
Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: MU) has released its results for the third quarter, with the official announcement expected soon.
Analysts anticipate that the company will post quarterly earnings of $1.61 per share, a significant increase from the 62 cents reported in the same period last year. Additionally, projections suggest quarterly revenues of around $8.85 billion, compared to $6.81 billion the previous year.
On Monday, Kevin Cassidy, an analyst at Rosenblatt, reaffirmed his buy rating for Micron, maintaining a price target of $172.
Investors might also be looking at the potential advantages of the company’s dividends. Micron currently offers a modest annual dividend yield of 0.36%, which equates to a quarterly dividend of 12 cents per share, or 46 cents annually.
To think through how to earn $500 a month from Micron, one might start with an annual target of $6,000. Dividing this by the $0.46 dividend suggests needing about 13,043 shares, which amounts to an investment of roughly $1,668,330 in Micron.
If someone aims for a more conservative monthly goal of $100, or $1,200 a year, the calculations would require approximately 2,609 shares, meaning an investment of around $333,717 to achieve that income.
It’s worth noting that dividend yields can change over time as stock prices and dividend payments fluctuate. Essentially, dividend yields are calculated by dividing the annual dividend by the current stock price, meaning they will vary as those figures change.
For instance, if a stock with a $2 annual dividend is priced at $50, its yield stands at 4%. But should the price rise to $60, the yield drops to 3.33%. Conversely, if the price decreases to $40, its yield increases to 5%.
Moreover, the actual dividend payment can also fluctuate, impacting the yield. If a company raises its dividends, the yield can increase even if the stock price remains unchanged. Conversely, lowering the dividends will lead to a decrease in yields.
MU Price Action: On Tuesday, Micron’s shares increased by 4.8%, closing at $127.91.
