Liver King Detained after Threatening Joe Rogan
Texas police reported that fitness influencer Brian “Liver King” Johnson made alarming threats towards Joe Rogan in several unusual videos shared online.
The Austin Police Department received word around 9:30 AM on Tuesday that Johnson posed a potential danger to Rogan via social media postings.
Authorities confirmed that Johnson was making threatening remarks on his Instagram profile concerning Rogan, who resides in Austin. While the investigation continued, detectives realized that Johnson was “traveling to Austin while continuing to make threatening statements.”
The detectives reached out to Rogan, who assured them that he had “no interaction” with Johnson. However, he regarded the post as “threatening.”
Consequently, based on Rogan’s perspective and the investigation, police deemed the threat credible enough to obtain an arrest warrant for Johnson.
Later that day, around 5:59 PM, officers located Johnson at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Austin, where he was safely apprehended.
The ongoing investigation was confirmed by the Austin Police Department.
According to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson was charged with making a terroristic threat, classified as a Class B misdemeanor, which typically causes fear of serious bodily harm.
On Wednesday, Johnson was released from jail after posting a $20,000 bond.
Before his arrest, he shared a series of peculiar videos on Instagram referencing Rogan. In one clip, while filing his nails to the tune of meditation music, Johnson made odd statements about not wanting to “scratch” UFC commentators’ faces. He also instructed his staff to send a box featuring Rogan’s face to the Comedy Mothership, claiming it contained DVDs of the “John Wick” series.
In another video, he asked his sons about losing “the man’s privilege” and called for his team to “mobilize” for his expected arrest, noting police sirens in the background. He further mentioned changing his Wi-Fi password to “F**k You Joe Rogan.”
In a shirtless video, Johnson brandished two gold firearms, donned wolf fur, and announced, “Joe Rogan, I’m calling you. I challenge you to a fight.” Despite claiming zero jiu-jitsu training, he stated, “you should dismantle me.”
Johnson later said, “Joe Rogan, we don’t need to pretend anymore. We’re coming to you. I challenge you. But I’ve never faced anything like this. I am willing to die, I hope you suffocate me.”
In another bizarre video filmed in the shower, Johnson asserted he hadn’t threatened to kill anyone while preparing a coffee enema.
Previously, in December 2022, Johnson admitted to using steroids to build his muscular physique, contradicting his former claims that a “primal lifestyle” was the secret to his success. This confession followed allegations about his steroid use, which reportedly cost him around $11,000 each month.
Rogan previously commented negatively on Johnson’s physique, saying, “There’s no way you can look like that in your 40s. You ran a scam game and got arrested.” Rogan also claimed that Johnson was present at one of his comedy shows and implied Johnson has been trying to leverage their relationship for publicity.
A Netflix documentary titled “Untold: The Liver King,” spotlighting Johnson’s rise to fame and the hypocrisy surrounding his fitness claims, is set to be released in May 2025.
