Strong Backing for Trump's Airstrikes Against Iran

A recent poll following the military actions over the weekend indicates that a majority of Americans support President Donald Trump’s airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites.

According to a new survey by American Pulse conducted from June 23-25 among 633 potential voters, with a margin of error of 3.9% and a 95% confidence interval, 55.5% approved of Trump’s actions aimed at hindering Iran from developing nuclear weapons, while 39.4% disapproved. When specifically asked about the airstrikes, the numbers were similar: 53.7% approval against 39.3% disapproval.

The responses were largely divided along party lines, with 86.1% of Republicans approving and 64.0% disapproving of Trump’s actions. Among those who voted for Trump, approval for the airstrike was around 84.8%, which was consistent with Republican support. However, approval among Trump voters decreased slightly from 71.6% to 65.6%. Only 12% disapproved, and 5% explicitly disagreed.

The poll found that President Trump had a net positive approval rating, despite being within the margin of error (49.7% approved, 48.9% disapproved).

Voter Dustin Olson commented:

Most Americans seem to feel that President Trump has addressed the threats posed by Iran’s nuclear program effectively, blending military and diplomatic strategies. This survey suggests that his approach has resonated, with nearly 56% of respondents approving of his efforts to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Olson also noted that 61% of those surveyed believe that foreign adversaries, including cartels and sleeper cells, have taken advantage of what they see as the Biden administration’s open border policy.

It is noted that the poll included slightly more Republicans than Democrats in its sample.
