Cotton Alleviates Concerns About Trump's Action on Iran

Senator Cotton Speaks After Military Success Against Iran

On Thursday, Senator Tom Cotton expressed his support for President Trump and the U.S. military following a press conference about a classified briefing on Iran. During the session, a joint mission by the U.S. and Israel was hailed as a significant setback for Tehran’s nuclear goals. Cotton criticized media and Democratic figures for downplaying the operation’s success.

“I want to commend President Trump, his national security team, and our skilled pilots for a flawlessly executed mission,” Cotton stated. “With the help of our allies in Israel, we’ve dealt a substantial blow to Iran’s nuclear program, enhancing safety for America and our friends, while also mitigating the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear capabilities for years to come.”

He voiced strong disapproval over a leaked report from the Reserve Defense Intelligence Agency, which critics used to question the strike’s effectiveness. “The report was preliminary and lacked confidence, filled with intelligence gaps,” he remarked. “We were considering the worst-case scenario under optimal conditions for Iran.”

Cotton referenced evaluations from a range of political perspectives, including insights from UN Atomic Watchdog chief Rafael Grossi and former weapons inspector David Albright.

In a statement to Breitbart News, he noted, “The media is more interested in undermining President Trump than recognizing the success of this strike. It was a severe blow to the Iranian regime, and Trump’s leadership has kept us safe.”

The senator mentioned that a ceasefire would only hold if Iran supported the agreement. He added, “Should Iran attempt another attack on Israel or U.S. interests, both leaders are clear that we must demonstrate our commitment to action once again.”

When questioned about internal complaints regarding the leaked report, Cotton conceded that he hadn’t discussed the issue with officials. However, he expressed confusion over their worries. “The report came out just hours after being sent to Congress. It seems like it was leaked by the pilot, the crew, or the president’s national security team from a pessimistic viewpoint,” he explained. “I can’t tell if it was from Congress or someone opposing the president’s policies.”

On whether both parties felt “satisfied” with the damage caused, Cotton suggested, “We might need to ask some Democrats. Those who are pleased probably won’t say much, while those who are not will continue to voice their concerns.”

Cotton added that Democrats had been granted extensive access to key officials, including Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, among others.

“Some in the media appear to be suffering from ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome,’ rooting for Iran’s nuclear program while dismissing the achievements of our pilots and crew. They should feel totally satisfied with what we accomplished,” he remarked.

When asked about Iran’s uranium assets, Cotton replied, “I can’t comment on that. It wasn’t part of their mission to eliminate all enriched uranium or capture it for any kind of undertaking. Like something out of a Mission Impossible movie.”
