Tax Refund Delays in North Carolina
Viewers in North Carolina have reached out to report difficulties in receiving their tax refund payments.
The North Carolina Department of Revenue has acknowledged on its website that an issue has caused delays for those awaiting paper refund checks.
However, there are also complaints from individuals who expected direct deposit refunds but are still waiting for clarity.
Norman Allen shared his frustration after not receiving his state refund check. He described how the customer service numbers led him into a loop of automated messages that ultimately disconnected him. In a follow-up, Allen managed to get some insights and soon received his tax refund.
Despite Allen’s progress, many other taxpayers remain in limbo. Comments on the agency’s social media highlight concerns about refund timelines. The Department of Revenue’s website explained that a printing company went out of business, delaying checks for approximately 300,000 people. Additionally, issues such as incomplete or incorrect information submitted by filers can contribute to further delays. The “Where are the refunds?” online portal had been down for a time but seems to be operational again as of June 26th.
Allen noted that the lack of communication has been particularly frustrating, pointing to a need for better accountability and leadership within the department.
