House Oversight chair calls for Jean-Pierre and others to testify about Biden's mental decline

House Committee Calls for Testimony on Biden’s Mental Decline

A key House committee is urging former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, along with three other ex-White House staffers, to appear before Congress to discuss an alleged cover-up regarding former President Joe Biden’s mental decline.

James Comer, the Republican chairman of the Oversight Committee, has been investigating who in Biden’s inner circle made crucial decisions during a time when the president’s mental state appeared to decline significantly.

On Friday, he sent letters to Jean-Pierre, former White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients, former Senior Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates, and former special assistant Ian Sams, requesting their participation in transcribed interviews with the committee.

This inquiry is part of a broader investigation into claims that there was an effort to conceal Biden’s decline and concerns regarding potentially fraudulent actions by senior officials related to pardons and other decisions made under the president’s authority.

Interviews and Subpoenas Issued

Comer emphasized in his letter that he believes these four individuals hold “critical” insights, as they were involved in significant executive decisions during the previous administration.

He noted that as press secretary, Jean-Pierre had close daily access to the president and, as a trusted confidante, must provide clarity on claims that Biden’s decline was due to misinformation.

Comer pointed out that if the White House team employed a long-term strategy to obscure the president’s state, Congress might need to explore legislative measures to address such actions.

Comer arranged interviews from late August to early September, confirming that should these officials not comply voluntarily, he would seek to issue subpoenas for their attendance.

Jean-Pierre and the others are the latest Biden administration officials to be called to testify regarding the alleged cover-up of the president’s condition. The chairman has also subpoenaed Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician, and Anthony Bernal, a senior advisor to the First Lady.

In a statement, Comer asserted the necessity of hearing from individuals involved in this situation as part of the ongoing investigation into cognitive function issues and potential misconduct by executive officials.

Contradictory Public Statements

Comer noted that Biden’s inner circle consistently assured the public that he was “as sharp as ever,” while dismissing concerns about his mental acuity as unfounded. They reportedly pushed these narratives to allies and media, suggesting a dissonance between public perceptions and behind-the-scenes realities.

As of now, Jean-Pierre, Zients, Bates, and Sams have not responded to requests for comment from Fox News Digital prior to publication.
