A family vacation on the Disney Dream took a terrifying turn when a father jumped into the water to save his daughter after she fell from the boat. Thankfully, the ship’s crew acted swiftly, and both were rescued in just a few minutes.
This incident unfolded on June 29 as the Disney Dream was returning to Fort Lauderdale after a four-night trip to the Bahamas. A Disney Cruise Line representative confirmed the successful rescue, praising the crew’s exceptional skills and quick response that ensured the guests were brought back safely.
Witnesses shared their experiences on social media. Kevin Furuta, one observer, detailed how a girl fell overboard from the fourth deck, prompting her father to dive in after her. “The DCL rescue team was on it right away, and both were saved!” Furuta posted.
Another passenger, Dewayne Smith, recounted how the “Man Overboard” alert sounded as the crew swung into action. He expressed relief when both the girl and her father were rescued, noting the outpouring of support and prayers from those on board.
The rescue team efficiently set up equipment and dispatched boats, and fortunately, there were no injuries reported. A spokesperson emphasized Disney’s commitment to guest safety, highlighting that this incident showcased the effectiveness of their safety measures.
