Gaza aid organization refutes report of US contractors shooting at Palestinians

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has challenged a report from the Associated Press claiming that Americans contractors were armed and used live ammunition against Palestinians seeking aid. In a statement posted on X, GHF asserted that they promptly began an investigation after the AP’s claims came to light. They concluded that the allegations were largely inaccurate based on timestamped video footage and witness statements that contradicted the AP’s story.

According to the AP article, two anonymous US contractors reported that security personnel were throwing stun grenades and using pepper spray on Palestinians. They also claimed to have seen shots fired, some directed at individuals in the crowd. The report included a video depicting a chaotic scene with many people gathered at aid distribution points.

In its response, GHF pointed out that the main informant for the AP was a former employee who had been dismissed due to fraudulent activities weeks before the article was published. They criticized the AP for failing to verify the claims before airing the report and stated that the narrative seemed to align with messages from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Ministry of Health.

GHF indicated intentions to pursue legal action regarding this matter and maintained that no individuals were injured or shot during the aid distribution operations.

In other news, Israel has confirmed it will support President Trump’s call for a 60-day ceasefire, with hopes of negotiating with Hamas alongside Egypt to facilitate peace in the region. The AP has stated it stands by its reporting, and the Israel Defense Forces did not respond immediately when contacted for comment.
