Disappearance and Crime in the Turks and Caicos Islands
Authorities report that security guards were killed around nine miles from where an American man went missing in the Turks and Caicos Islands in late June.
Brian Tullence, 51, from Monroe, New York, was last seen on June 25 while vacationing with his wife in the Turks and Caicos Islands. On that same day, police mentioned that guards were found murdered at a supermarket in the Blue Hills area, close to Tullence’s disappearance.
Currently, there’s no confirmed link between these two incidents.
Grantley Williams, the police chief of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police, shared in a Facebook video that Tullence was last recorded leaving the Paradise Inn, where he and his wife were staying in the Grace Bay area.
Compounding the mystery, bodies were discovered during the search for missing Americans in this picturesque location.
Tullence was spotted on security cameras before he left his condo. According to Carl DeFazio, a private investigator for Tullence’s family, the couple enjoyed a typical day and then took a boat trip. DeFazio remarked, “Everything seemed normal until he just walked away from a very safe area.” He mentioned that they saw Tullence heading towards town, but after that, he vanished without a trace.
Interestingly, Tullence left his personal belongings behind in the condo, and he was dressed casually at the time. His wife didn’t realize he was missing until the following morning, as reported by DeFazio.
On Saturday, just after 9 a.m., the body was found in Grace Bay. However, police are yet to confirm the identity. A spokesperson for the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police indicated that autopsy results are still pending.
A representative, Rodney Adams, extended condolences to Tullence’s family and friends, urging them to avoid speculation and wait for official information regarding the body discovery.
The couple had begun their vacation on June 22 and were set to return on June 29.
If anyone has information about Tullence’s case, they are encouraged to contact local authorities or Crime Stoppers.
