Arizona Man Collapses in Court Facing Child Exploitation Charges

A 42-year-old hospital employee, Joshua James Lozano, reportedly fainted in a Phoenix courtroom when confronted with the possibility of serving up to a century in prison due to felony child sexual exploitation charges. This incident was captured in a dramatic video during his Monday court appearance.

The court proceedings followed an investigation by Glendale police into alleged child exploitation activities. The probe was initiated after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted authorities about inappropriate content linked to Lozano’s internet service provider.

Authorities managed to trace explicit material back to Lozano through a combination of a specific account, a phone number, and an IP address, leading to his arrest the previous Thursday. During the hearing, Maricopa County prosecutor Ashley Stetson mentioned that Lozano could potentially face ten consecutive felony counts related to the sexual exploitation of minors.

Upon learning that each count could carry a 10-year sentence served consecutively, which could total a staggering 100 years, Lozano collapsed. The court session had to be temporarily halted to allow medical staff to assist him before he was taken back into police custody.

Lozano’s attorney, Michael Tamou, requested that the court consider reducing the bail amount from $150,000 to $50,000, highlighting Lozano’s local ties. Ultimately, the judge set the bond at $150,000.

If he manages to post bail, Lozano will still face strict conditions: he cannot contact minors, possess a smartphone, or access the internet, and he’ll need to wear an electronic monitoring device.

Lozano’s next court date is scheduled for September 21. As of now, there has been no response from his attorney regarding the case.
