Assassination Attempt on President Trump at Washington Hilton
An armed individual has been charged with attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner held at the Washington Hilton. Cole Thomas Allen, a 31-year-old teacher from California, was formally indicted by the Department of Justice recently.
In court, he calmly indicated that he would be willing to accept a life sentence if found guilty. According to reports, Allen allegedly armed himself and used a magnetometer to gain access to the ballroom where the event took place, with plans to target Trump and others in his administration.
In what appears to be his manifesto, Allen expressed clear intentions toward the president and his officials. He categorized them as targets and emphasized their prioritization: “Regime officials (excluding Mr. Patel): They are targets and prioritized from highest to lowest,” his manifesto stated.
Furthermore, he suggested that he might go through “almost everyone here to achieve his goals if absolutely necessary,” noting that many attendees are complicit by choosing to associate with what he termed as “pedophiles, rapists, and traitors.” He seemed to hope that such drastic measures wouldn’t be required.
Footage captured the moment the suspect dashed through the Washington Hilton, triggering a swift response from law enforcement. Allen is also accused of shooting a Secret Service agent in the chest, although the agent was wearing a bulletproof vest. In light of the distressing event, President Trump commended investigators for their prompt action.
At a press conference shortly after the incident, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche indicated that additional charges were anticipated, given the severity of Allen’s actions. “There will be multiple charges for shooting, possession of a firearm, and various other related offenses,” he warned.
In his remarks, President Trump reflected on the ongoing threats he faces. “They don’t go after players who don’t do much, because they like it,” he remarked. He further noted that influential figures often attract such extreme actions and mentioned his awareness of previous assassination attempts, including one in Butler, Pennsylvania, back in the summer of 2024. In that incident, he sustained injuries from gunfire that nearly harmed him severely.
“I turned to my right and looked at the chart, and I thought, ‘Wow, what was that?'” he recalled, attributing his survival to divine intervention. “Honestly, something changed in me,” he added, expressing a newfound strength and faith since taking office.
