Adams says NYC is coordinating with ICE as mass migrant deportations loom

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday that his administration is coordinating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) regarding the deportation of illegal criminal immigrants.

Adams, a Democrat, said immigrants who commit violent crimes in the Big Apple would be dealt with by federal agencies despite the city's sanctuary cities law.

Asked if his administration could tackle ICE while also adhering to sanctuary city laws that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities, Adams said: “There's a lot of room. We already have task forces in place with federal partners. ” he said.

“There are no restrictions. Nothing has changed. We will continue to work with all of our federal partners on illegal activities,” he continued. “For almost a year and a half ago, I have been absolutely convinced that the people who commit violent crimes in our city are violating our right to be in our city and our country, and I am We will continue to work with those involved in crime.”
