AI-generated images of Joe Biden in military uniform go viral amid Middle East tensions

An AI-generated photo showing President Biden decked out in military gear in a situation room went viral on Tuesday as tensions rise in the Middle East following a deadly drone attack on US soldiers.

A troubling deepfake posted to X shows Biden in camouflage sitting at a desk with his advisers, in an apparent attempt to show the United States is ready for battle.

The images have been viewed thousands of times since they were first posted on Elon Musk’s social media platforms on Monday, shortly after the Taylor Swift deepfake scandal.

As of Tuesday evening, they remained at the scene.

The Post has reached out to the White House and X for comment.

Three U.S. military personnel were killed in a drone attack in northeastern Jordan on Sunday.

Biden said the United States would “respond” to the attack, which officials in Washington blamed on groups linked to Iran.

The president has been criticized by Republicans for showing weakness toward Iran and failing to prevent Iranian proxies in the region.

Iran denies involvement in the attack.

X came under fire last week for leaving an explicit AI-generated image of Taylor Swift on its site for 17 hours.

These images were viewed 47 million times before the account that posted them was eventually suspended.

X banned users from searching for Swift over the weekend, but lifted it on Monday night.

Since Musk bought Twitter in 2022, he has faced criticism for his controversial posts, and many advertisers on the platform have refrained from spending for fear of being associated with harmful content. .
