American Airlines flight makes emergency landing in NYC due to overflowing bathroom

Talk about a terrible flight.

An American Airlines flight bound for Spain was forced to make an emergency stop in New York City on Wednesday after an onboard toilet began overflowing, authorities said.

The FAA said the bathroom issue first emerged shortly after the plane took off from Dallas.

The plane landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport around 10:30 p.m.

American Airlines confirmed the “maintenance issue” involved a bathroom sink, and offered passengers a night’s accommodation while they waited for a new plane to continue their international itinerary.

“The aircraft landed normally and is expected to re-take flight. [Thursday] “We plan to depart in the evening on a new aircraft. We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans and we apologize for any inconvenience caused,” an American Airlines spokesperson said in a statement.

The uncomfortable diversion came amid a series of bizarre incidents that forced an American Airlines flight to make an emergency landing last month.

In one terrifying incident, a flight from Amsterdam was diverted to JFK airport after several passengers became ill after being served spoiled food, according to the FAA.

And last month, one of the airline’s Boeing 737s was forced to abort a takeoff in Florida after one of its wheels exploded on the runway.
